Working with the
government and industry…

We continue to support the UK’s commitment to tackling obesity and recognise the challenges facing the public health agenda. Tackling obesity is a complex challenge, and there is no silver bullet.

We recognise our role in helping to educate consumers on the role of our ingredient and will continue to do this through our Making Sense of Sugar campaign. We will also continue to support our customers on the challenges and opportunities of reformulation.

We work together with industry and charities to support understanding of this area, for example the British Nutrition Foundation who work with us to draw upon the UK Government’s Eatwell Guide to aid consumer understanding. Guidance includes practical suggestions for estimate portion sizes that are easy to follow at home, as well as guidance on achieving a healthy, balanced diet.

British Sugar continues to monitor new developments in the areas of sugar and health and urges public health authorities and other experts to evaluate all current, relevant science when making public health recommendations.
