INVESTING IN EFFICIENCY
We have invested around £250 million in our factories over the last five years, making them ever more efficient and supporting our circular economy approach, by installing leading technology in energy efficiency and process optimisation to continuously improve our use of raw materials.
We're focused on reducing our environmental impact not just in our factories, but across every aspect of our business. We work closely with our growers to improve environmental performance on farm, and our yield growth has meant we today produce as much sugar as 20 years ago, on 90,000 fewer hectares of land.

We work with organisations and suppliers from the food and drink sector, farming community, central and local government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), utility service providers and research bodies to identify innovative solutions and improvements beyond our manufacturing base.

A reduction in water usage of 26% since 2014
MANAGING RESOURCES
Continuous improvement is embedded at each of our four sites. Since 2014, these processes have resulted in a 26% reduction in water usage, a 12% reduction in energy usage and a 17% reduction in CO2. Our factories operate using management systems accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 50001, BRC and FEMAS.
