British Sugar is helping its people change the way they learn and develop with a week long programme of events and activities as part of this year’s Learning at Work Week.
Learning at Work Week, which runs from 16th-22nd May, is a national campaign that gives companies the opportunity to promote different ways of learning. As part of this year’s Week, British Sugar is holding events such as presentations, webinars, drop in clinics and team building sessions at its central Peterborough office – 'How to be a Great Learner', 'Growing Vegetables at Home', 'Adding Value Through Professional Networks' and 'Mind full or Mindful?' are just some of the sessions on offer.
Louise Lennon, Learning and Development Manager said: “We are moving from traditional training to having a more blended approach to learning and development across the company. Taking part in Learning at Work Week is a great way to start introducing our employees to new ways to learn.”
Activities for the week will explore the ‘70/10/20’ theory – this states that that 70% of people’s learning comes from experience in their role, 20% from each other and 10% from courses and training. The week will also promote the ‘Campus’, British Sugar’s own online training and development portal, as well as showcasing different methods of learning.
Louise Lennon, Learning and Development Manager added:
“We want our people to be supported to ‘learn differently’ and Learning at Work Week gives us a fantastic opportunity to do just that. Linking in with a national campaign is a great way to raise awareness and encourage fresh thinking that will help drive our business forward”.
